This is a peice that tries to display both my love of science, and the beauty and symmetry of nature's own building blocks.

This is the exact opposite of unoriginal. I am also fascinated by science, and never thought of expressing it in poetry. This is a fine poem.
I always thought that haikus were 5-7-5. Was I wrong?
I'm sorry that I don't have any good input to give you on this (since you asked for a critique over a month ago.) I've looked this over a large number of times, trying to find something constructive to say, but I think this is an unusually hard subject and format to say much about. I'm sorry; I tried repeatedly over the last few days.
